Bowtex got its start as a retail store for the professional surveyor in northwest Houston in1984. A state-of-the-art showroom was built out. And Bowtex was wildly successful: Supplying brand names such as Leica, Bosch, and Spectra. Professionals walked into our store and were greeted by Steve and his dad like old friends. Steve not only sold the equipment but also serviced all the equipment. Bowtex performed warranty work and manned a service hotline. Actually, Steve was the hotline, manning it 24/7 from his home when he wasn’t in the office. Mrs. Montgomery was thrilled. If you bought from Bowtex, your purchase was not an Amazon purchase, and your call center was headquartered 20 minutes down the road!

In addition to the technical questions customers brought to him, Steve was always asked, “Where can I buy Lath and Survey Hubs and form stakes? Just like answering the customer service hotline, Steve wanted to provide a real answer to his clients. So, Steve looked around and found that, indeed, there was not a ready supply of this critical, consumable, sustainable product in the area for his customers. Bowtex manufacturing was born!

Steve was disappointed with the inferior attempts at Lath and Hubs locally. He decided to focus on quality. He understood that broken, cracked, warped, or weak lath only slowed the professional down. There was a need for quality. Now 40 years later, Bowtex continues to manufacture the perfect stake and hubster.
